Running On Empty: Freedom & Enable

“After your mother found the guarana pills, you looked them up and talked about the potential side effects and mechanism of action together. Initially, you felt that guarana would give you freedom and enable you to be more relaxed and enjoy eating and food. It seemed that guarana could work as a safety net, You were hopeful that it might quiet feelings which interferes with your ability to eat, and quiet the urge to vomit.”

From the "Running On Empty" story.

I bought a Leica the other day! This M2 was built in 1958 and used on 9 National Geographic, and several Life and Time Magazine assignments by photojournalist Victor Englebert. His niche was documenting and learning from indigenous people. Wow... sold.

Montañita, Ecuador. 2010.

More scared then stoked, not much was spoken on the ride over and less when we were dropped off in the middle of the town. Bumping into each other, trying not to be seen. Tired, warn down, and anxious we paid ten bucks each for the second hotel we came across. It was over budget but we felt we deserved a secure environment our first couple days.

This town never sleeps. no waves no sleep. Eat, shit, surf, siesta, surf, eat, and then drink and smoke, till 5 am then repeat. Its a fucking hippy den in Montinita. Yeap the place to be. Smoke your weed release your seed. The perfect place to come for your week long, bleach blond, spring break.

Three blonde gringos from Vancouver, travel to Ecuador and Peru’s coastline in order to find decent waves.

From the series “These New Poutines”
